Put Out The Flame

Put Out the Flame is going back to where it all began in the Hong Kong Arts Festival as part of The Jockey Club Contemporary Dance Series 10 years Anniversary. Due to the current health crisis the live shows that were going to happen in March are cancelled. However we worked hard into transforming the piece into a film so we can still bring the work to you.

“Put Out the Flame tells a fantastical and yet deeply human story. A story of two individuals but with themes that can relate to all of us. The film uses the narrative structure of theatre, the language of dance and the medium of a silent movie so bringing it to screen meant finding how to mix these different languages effectively. Adapting the pace, the performance and the music to this new form, together with a creative team spread across three different countries was deeply rewarding challenge and I hope that the result is as interesting to watch as it was to make.” - Jos Baker

You can watch the work for free online from 14/05/2021 - 31/05/2021
