Summer is once again upon us and Jos Baker will be once again featuring Jetsummer at Danscentrumjette in Brussels.

Class description :

Physicology and Improvisation for research.

The day will start with Physicology; is an approach to teaching dance technique developed by Jos Baker over the last 12 years.  Physicology combines art and science; using a prism of physics, anatomy, evolutionary-biology, psychology and performance skills to to help dancers to get a greater fundamental understanding of their technique and how that can be applied to performance.  These fundamental are then applied into challenging and complex dance material.

The afternoons will focus on Improvisation for research; building tools and techniques to use improvisation to research and develop movement ideas.  How does improvisation for research differ from other uses of improvisation? How can we develop new ideas through improvisation? How can we identify and clarify a movement concept?
