Workshop physicology and creative tools

22/07 — 27/07/2021 // 18:00 — 22:00

This workshop will look at both dance technique and at the creative process. part of the emphasis will be on physical technique, as well as spatial understanding and the ability that dancers have to move through space. Through deeper understanding of the principles of human movement the classes will build to complex and challenging movement material. There will also be a focus on ways of making material for the stage, particularly on how the body can be used to tell stories, how ideas can be constructed to have the greatest impact, and how the performer effects that.

Performances 29/07 and 30 /07 at Dock 11

Know It All

Know It All is is part of an ongoing movement research into very tiny virtuosity. Can we retrain our eyes to see dances from movement that is often overlooked? Where do our bodies fit into a digital world? Can we dance with our skin, our pores, our intentions? What is the value of live performance in the modern world?… and other questions like that. Mostly it is about questions… mostly.

Put Out The Flame

Put Out The Flame is a mundane drama, a story about the micro-tragedies of the everyday. In a heightened version of reality, the work deals with deeply personal themes in unique and individual ways; revealing something both relatable and bizarre. Drawing on both eastern and western cinema, the work weaves highly researched movement material, virtuosic and fantastical elements into something profoundly human.
